Welcome to Walton’s

Welcome to Colonel Valentine Walton’s Regiment of Foot, representing the famous New Model Army from 1645 to 1651. Part of the Roundhead Association within The English Civil War Society, we are a modest sized, extremely friendly regiment which prides itself in “getting it right”, with carefully researched uniforms, clothing and equipment – but crucially also a relaxed attitude and a good sense of humour, you definitely don’t have to be “stuffy” to be interested in authenticity! On the battlefield we usually brigade with like-minded regiments to create an authentic, impressive military unit. Off the battlefield we stage displays of various aspects of military, civilian and domestic life within a living history encampment.

Our members come from all walks of life and include entire families as it’s a fantastic way to enjoy weekends away with great friends in often amazing locations. So if you are interested in seeing whether you would enjoy becoming a pikeman, musketeer, musician or civilian, well we’d love to hear from you! Oh and if you are wondering, no you don’t have to camp authentically in period-style tents (unless you prefer to of course), as modern camping is usually the norm outside of display hours.

This web site is primarily aimed at a general audience although all members of Walton’s can access and play a part in keeping the site up to date. If you want to know more after exploring it, please use the ‘Contact’ section to request further information.
Interested? Why not come along and try the fun and excitement for yourself?!! Step into a tent to put on some of our spare kit, and then step out into the C17th!
